Madonna’s MDNA collaborated on luxury skin-care sets with Moschino

It's been only a few months since fashion's beloved Moschino did an unexpected yet awesome makeup collaboration with cute-as-can-be K-beauty brand Tonymoly, launching what are probably the only products between $15 and $77 to ever bear the Moschino name. And now Madonna's MDNA Skin has teamed up with the iconic Italian design house on new skin-care sets — and the price points are a wee bit different.

MDNA Skin's products are already pretty up-there in terms of price — they're high-performing formulas and super-luxurious, after all — and adding Moschino to the mix has only taken that lavishness to new levels. Take the first of the three sets: the Hydration Trio. It includes full sizes of The Serum, The Eye Serum, and a mini version of The Rose Mist, which the brand says are perfect picks "as the weather warms up and you start switching to lighter skin-care formulas." They come with a super-chic, clear cosmetic bag featuring both brands' logos, and trompe l'oeil zippers and pockets.

And at $420 — believe it or not — that's actually a bargain. The two full-size products alone would normally cost $420, but you're getting them, a travel-size mist, and a Moschino-designed accessory exclusively at Barneys for that price.

If you prefer your bargains under $400, you may want to take a look at the Nordstrom-exclusive set, All Eyes on You. "After a long flight or a late night, this duo combats tired-looking eyes by helping to brighten the undereye and reduce puffiness," the brand says of The Eye Serum (again, full size) and the four pairs of The Eye Mask included in the same Moschino-designed clear pouch. This one goes for $200.

Luckily for those of us who want the MDNA-meets-Moschino experience for even less, there's one more set that features that chic case, along with travel-size versions of The Face Wash, The Rose Mist, The Serum, and two pairs of The Eye Mask Runway Ready Essentials. Available at both and Nordstrom, it's $95.

All of these sets launch on April 1 at their respective retailers.

Madonna wants to change the way we talk about women & ageing

A sea of fans, with their phones held high in the air, filled the cosmetics floor of Barneys in Beverly Hills on Tuesday night, all waiting to catch a quick glimpse of the biggest icon in pop music history. Dressed in a sequinned, art deco-inspired black dress and hair set in old Hollywood waves, it took me a second to notice Madonna's diamond grill, black-tipped nude manicure, or the artfully-jumbled slew of chains dangling from her neck. Fifteen minutes, a few selfies, and the anointing of one fan with her Rose Mist spray later, and the queen was back in the elevator.

I was able to catch a few minutes with Madonna on her way out of the building promoting her MDNA skin-care line and she filled me in on the unexpected beauty treatment she swears by (besides masking her bum), the phrase she's sick of hearing, and what reinvention means to her. Check it out, ahead.

On The Weirdest Beauty Treatment She Loves

"I could tell you some weird stories, but they aren't connected to beauty — and we don't have that much time! [Laughs] I'd say honey — not Manuka honey, just regular honey. You put it on your face and let it get really sticky, then you do this thing with your fingertips to pull the skin up, which [temporarily] plumps the skin."

On Ageing — & The Term She Hates

"We need to stop talking about ageing like it's something negative and, actually, I don't like the word 'anti-ageing.' Why can't we just be the age that we are and look amazing all of the time? We can, if we take care of ourselves inside and out."

On Her Everyday Beauty Routine

"Sometimes I can't travel with all this stuff or I don't have a lot of time, so the Reinvention Cream [launching in April] is my all-in-one; I use it on my legs, my arms, knees, stomach, and butt.
"I use the Rose Mist in my hair if [it] feels too dry or frizzy. I use The Serum on my knees. I squeeze the extra moisture from The Eye Masks on my elbows. The Reinvention Cream all over my body, and the Chrome Clay Mask on my butt."

On Her Favorite Reinvention

"My most meaningful reinvention was becoming a mother and all the work that I do in Africa. The important ingredient in this cream comes from the resurrection plant, which is primarily found in Sub-Saharan Africa. This plant reminds me of me: I can go forever and ever without getting any moisture, any water, and any love, and all of a sudden you sprinkle a few drops and it blossoms and opens up and flowers, and then if it doesn't get moisture it kind of goes back inside itself and hibernates. It keeps coming back and reinventing itself, so we extracted the stem cells and put it in this cream."

On What Really Drives Her

"To thy own self be true — sorry to quote Shakespeare, but if you look at the world and the people who've accomplished a lot of things in their life, who have broken the mould and changed history: It's never the people who fit in, never the people who took the road everyone took. Resistance that you get from people, not fitting in, that builds your character. You should consider not fitting in a blessing!"

De producten van Madonna zijn al sinds 2014 in China verkrijgbaar en sinds september 2017 in de Verenigde Staten. De lijn is ontwikkeld door de dermatoloog van Madonna.

Madonna talks Feminism, Skin Care, and faking a good night's sleep

As I'm running on a solid five hours of sleep, Madonna calls to talk about her new MDNA Skin Finishing Cream ($250), a thermal-water-infused moisturizer that's supposed to fake a full night of peaceful slumber. So, how many hours does Madonna usually take to rest up? "Six," the icon said. "If I'm lucky, and it's a Sunday sleep-in day, eight. And that's just a marvelous privilege."

It's hard to imagine Madonna sleeps at all, considering how hard the woman works. Between being, you know, Madonna and all, earlier this Fall she also launched MDNA Skin, her passion-project skincare line. The Finishing Cream is her latest drop, and given its major hype, it just might become her most popular.

What's so special about this cream? For one, it contains M.T.PARCA Thermal Water extracted from Montecatini, Italy. This province in Tuscany has won fame for the healing properties of its water. "People go to these spas to heal everything from arthritis to skin ailments," Madonna said. "The water rises to the surface of the volcanic eruption, and then that's skimmed off of the top. That's purified, and those waters have a specific molecular structure that not only heals the skin but also purifies, tightens, hydrates, and illuminates."

According to Madonna, eczema, acne, scars, and rosacea can all be healed or reversed with M.T.PARCA Thermal Water. I ask her if it can go on other parts of your body, like how she previously told us that her Magnetic Clay Mask should be applied to your butt because "it has an audience."

"Well, that was a joke," she said, laughing. "But, absolutely. It has a microcurrent quality, so it's stimulating your muscles. You can use it anywhere."

I ask her about my problem area — dark under-eyes — and it turns out that Madonna and I have exactly one thing in common (and thus, my life is complete). "I tend to wake up with really puffy eyes, so if it's early in the morning, the first thing I have to do is put ice on my eyes and do things to make the swelling go down," she said. For that same reason, she always pops her Eye Mask ($50) in the fridge before using.

Then the Material Girl herself tells me that, in fact, there are some skincare results money can't buy. "The thing that makes you feel the most beautiful is when you're happy with yourself, and you're confident, and you've done something good," she said. She referenced when she gave an emotional speech on being a woman in the music industry at the 2016 Billboard Music Awards, or the time she built a pediatric care wing at a hospital in Malawi. "Those are empowering moments that make me feel beautiful inside and out."

Drag Race star Milk is the new face of Madonna's MDNA skincare line

Madonna's new commercial for her MDNA skincare line appears to feature the iconic singer revisiting some of her most groundbreaking looks: the Blonde Ambition cone bra and the "Hung Up" and "Living For Love" music videos, specifically. But at the end of the clip, the model is revealed to be none other than Drag Race alum and soon-to-be All Stars contestant Milk.

“Over the years I’ve had the opportunity to embody many personas―to express myself but remain myself,” Madonna muses as the video begins, before calling out for a “revolution of being who you are.”

The MDNA skincare line includes face washes, mists, serums, masks, and rejuvenators ranging from $50 to $600.

Milk shared the exciting news of his casting over Instagram, writing: "From having my makeup done by Aaron Henrikson, to my hair, to secretly getting to try on the original Jean Paul Gaultier cone bra (it didn't fit haha), shooting the MDNA SKIN campaign video was surreal. To be a part of this, for someone who has always epitomized the ideals of being different and unique, was a dream come true."

Madonna has a skincare line that you didn't know about

Yes, our favourite rebel heart has a secret to looking so good. And it's not what you think.

Madonna will be in Singapore on the 28 February as part of her Rebel Heart tour. But this ageless wonder (she's actually 58) made a pit stop in Japan recently where she relaunched her skincare line. Yes, you heard right. Madonna has a skincare line, MDNA Skin, that was co-created with MTG, one of the biggest beauty companies in Japan. MDNA Skin is actually the only sponsor for her Rebel Heart tour.

This line relaunch took place on 15 February in Tokyo, and three new products were trotted out: the Face Wash, Rose Mist and the Eye Mask. This adds on to the four existing products in the range that include a Chrome Clay Mask and a Serum that was launched two years ago.

Known for being a perfectionist with exacting standards, the entire MDNA Skin range has been personally created and tested by the queen of pop herself, in conjunction with her personal aesthetician Michelle Peck — who serves as brand director.

While it is only available in Japan at the moment, the brand will launch in major Asian cities like Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore and Korea in the months to come. In fact, it will be launching in Singapore in the second half of this year, though details on where it will retail have not been confirmed yet.
