It has been announced that the DJ known as Avicii has died suddenly at the age of 28.
The musician from Sweden died in Muscat in Oman today (Friday April 20).
His real name was Tim Bergling and he was the man behind several hugely successful hits. He was best known for the songs Levels, Hey Brother and Wake Me Up. His works involved him collaborated with many famous musicians including Madonna.
A representative for Avicii announced the news of his death in a statement on Friday. He said: "It is with profound sorrow that we announce the loss of Tim Bergling, also known as Avicii.
“He was found dead in Muscat, Oman this Friday afternoon local time, April 20th.
"The family is devastated and we ask everyone to please respect their need for privacy in this difficult time. No further statements will be given."
Avicii announced on his website that he had retired from live performances in 2016 for health reasons. He said he was continuing to work in his studio on forthcoming songs.
