Madonna was unable to film with Dua Lipa for their upcoming Levitating video – despite appearing on a remix of the track and an extra day being added to the shoot, sources have told Daily Star Online.
Madonna may appear on Dua Lipa’s new single Levitating alongside Missy Elliot, but the Queen of Pop was less forthcoming when it came to the song’s accompanying music video.
According to insiders, Madonna and Dua were unable to film any scenes together due to hectic schedules.
While more time was added to the shoot than initially planned, it is thought that Madonna and Dua never managed to meet on set.
A source told Daily Star Online: “The track is set to be on the Wonder Woman 2 soundtrack as well as Dua’s remixed album – it’s the ultimate all female collaboration.
“Dua filmed the remix video in June over a few days.
“Madonna wasn’t available to take part initially despite filming being over multiple dates and locations but then plans changed and an extra shoot was added.
“In the end M was able to film something but it wasn’t at the same time as Dua.”
The source added: “Dua looks amazing, she’s rocking red hair and her boyfriend Anwar Hadid is in the video.”
A rep for Madonna declined to comment.
A rep for Dua Lipa has been contacted by Daily Star Online for comment.
Dua stunned fans this week by confirming she is releasing a remix edition of her hit album Future Nostalgia.
Taking to Instagram, Dua wrote: “CLUB FUTURE NOSTALGIA THE REMIX ALBUM W THE BLESSED MADONNA COMING AUGUST 21ST.
“LEVITATING AUGUST 14TH – FEATURING MISSY ELLIOTT & MADONNA.
“PHYSICAL FT. GWEN STEFANI REMIXED BY MARK RONSON.
“+++ ALL FUTURE NOSTALGIA TRACKS N THEN SUM REMIXED BY UR FAVES AND MANY MANY MORE SURPRISES!!! C YA SOON.”
Meanwhile, co-founder of Tap Music Ben Mawson [Dua’s management company] has opened up about how a Madge collab was always Dua’s dream.
Mawson said: “Dua told me she aspired to be Madonna when I met her, when she was 17, and there was something about the way she said it that made me believe her!
“It was about her personality, her charisma, her competitiveness, and her drive, and that came across. Dua’s got it all, so she’s unlimited potential.”
He added: “She’s definitely the complete pop star and obviously this album is heavily influenced by Madonna.
“In fact, we’re about to try and get Madonna on a record.
“I’m going to write the email and see if she’s up for going on a Dua track. But Dua’s definitely got it all, so she’s got unlimited potential”.
