Madonna has embraced her back catalogue on her world tour, which opened in LOS ANGELES last night (May 24).
And the Re-Invention tour also sees her continue to use controversial anti-war imagery.
The star was lambasted for dressing in military fatigues and using Iraq-sensitive imagery in the video and promotion for last year’s American Life single and album.
However, undeterred, the politically-charged show sees Madonna wearing combat gear while singing American Life to the sound of dropping bombs while images of warfare rage on video screens, reports Reuters.
Elsewhere, a cover of John Lennon’s Imagine is backed with images of sick and injured children from around the world.
However, the show also sees Madonna return to ‘playing the hits’ following the Drowned World tour, which almost entirely shunned her Eighties smashes in favour of post-Bedtime Stories material. The new show features hits such as Like A Prayer, Papa Don’t Preach, Deeper and Deeper and Vogue.
The tour comes to the UK in August.
