Madonna Louise Veronica Ciccone, known professionally as Madonna, is an American singer, songwriter, actress, and businesswoman who recently brought her 35-city Rebel Heart Tour to Chicago on September 28, 2015 at the United Center.
The Rebel Heart Tour follows the release of Madonna’s Rebel Heart album. Along with extraordinary critical acclaim as an artist, songwriter and producer, Madonna’s reputation as one of the most successful live performers of all time speaks for itself. Her stop in Chicago boasted a wide array of costume changes and set pieces, casting the singer and her dancers as matadors, ‘20s flappers, mechanics, and shoguns while belting out classics such as True Blue, on a ukulele, Like A Virgin, Material Girl, and more. Not one to outshine her predecessors, Madonna titillated the crowd with the veracity of her new offerings such as Bitch I’m Madonna, Rebel Heart, and Devil Pray. Elements such as nuns on cross-shaped stripper poles and dancers engaging in simulated sex came as no surprise from the reigning Queen of Pop. But, a breakdancer who spun wildly on a slanted surface to a group of acrobats on poles did. At 57 years old, Madonna shows no sign of slowing down.
Rebel Heart has fourteen tracks: Living For Love, Devil Pray, HeartbreakCity, Unapologetic Bitch, Illuminati, Bitch I’m Madonna (ft. Nicki Minaj), Hold Tight, Joan of Arc, Iconic (ft. Chance the Rapper and Mike Tyson), HeartbreakCity, Body Shop, Holy Water, Inside Out, and Wash All Over Me. The album is Madonna’s thirteenth studio album and was released on March 6, 2015 on Interscope Records.
